A bear on a rampage injured nine people at the service station in Nyukawa, central Japan, around 140 miles west of Tokyo. The bear first attacked people at the bus parking area and than was trapped in the lodge of the souvenir shop where was shot dead by a qualified hunter after an hour long terrifying experience. No one suffered any major damage (apart form the bear).
This highway service station is a very nice place with amazing scenic views, although locals say that the bears are usually keeping their distance from the urban areas like this particular service station and that the bear attacks are very rare.
