Invisible fence
Posted Under: General
You’ve heard of postmen being attacked by dogs yes? The scene usually goes like this; the postman opens the gate to go up the path and posts his letters in the front door or post box. The dog lays in wait for his mortal enemy and charges out of the bushes as the postman is going about his job. The postman runs away and the dog feels like it has done its duty by protecting the family from this intruder! So imagine this, you’re a postman and you have to post your letters at a house with no fence and an open yard. And there is a big dog waiting to attack you. Yes, I would be terrified too. Imagine walking to the post box which is on the door at the side of the house and seeing the dog charging towards you, barking loudly. Imagine your surprise when the dog stops feet away from you, cowers away and leaves you alone. You think it must be magic, but it’s not. It is probably an invisible fence! You can buy these electronic barriers to stop dogs going anywhere you do not want. The dog wears a collar that gives him a mild shock similar to static electricity if he goes near the boundary and it is very quickly learned that he must stay within a certain area. Perhaps if you are a postman, a leaflet on these electric fences should be posted to every house with a dog!
